Removal
-
Drain the cooling system.
Refer to: Engine Cooling System Draining, Vacuum Filling and Bleeding
(303-03B Engine Cooling - 2.3L EcoBoost (199kW/270PS), General
Procedures).

NOTICE:
Do not pull the engine appearance cover forward or
sideways to remove. Failure to press straight upward on the underside of
the cover at the attachment points may result in damage to the cover or
engine components.

Remove the engine appearance cover nut.
-
Place your hand under the engine appearance cover at
each grommet location and push straight up to release each grommet from
the studs.
-
After all of the grommets have been released from the studs, remove the appearance cover from the engine.
-
Remove the bolts and the accessory drive belt cover.
-
NOTE:
Make sure the accessory drive belt is positioned so coolant can not contaminate the belt.
Remove the accessory drive belt.
-
NOTICE:
Cover the A/C belt to prevent coolant contamination of the belt.
Completely cover the A/C belt with waterproof plastic.

Using a strap wrench, hold the coolant pump pulley. Remove the bolts and the coolant pump pulley.
Use the General Equipment: Strap Wrench

Remove the bolts and the coolant pump. Discard the O-ring seal.
Installation
-
Install a new coolant pump O-ring seal and lubricate it
with clean engine coolant. Install the coolant pump and the bolts.
Refer to: Specifications (303-03B Engine Cooling - 2.3L EcoBoost (199kW/270PS), Specifications).
Torque:
89 lb.in (10 Nm)

Position the coolant pump pulley and install the bolts
finger tight. Using a strap wrench, hold the coolant pump pulley and
tighten the bolts.
Use the General Equipment: Strap Wrench
Torque:
18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

Remove the waterproof plastic from the A/C belt.
Install the accessory drive belt.

Install the accessory drive belt cover and the bolts.
Torque:
18 lb.ft (25 Nm)

NOTICE:
Lubricating the grommets with silicone grease will
aid in the installation of the engine appearance cover, and any future
removal and installation of the cover.
-
Lubricate each grommet with silicone grease.

Position the engine appearance cover onto engine with the grommets aligned with the studs.

Press down on the engine appearance cover at each grommet location to attach the grommets onto the studs.
-
Install the engine appearance cover nut.
Torque:
33 lb.in (3.7 Nm)
-
Fill and bleed the cooling system.

Carry out a road test.
