Lincoln Corsair: Rear View Mirrors / Removal and Installation - Exterior Mirror

Flat Headed Screw Driver

Removal

NOTE: Removal steps in this procedure may contain installation details.

Exterior mirror assembly

  1. Remove the front door trim panel.
    Refer to: Front Door Trim Panel (501-05 Interior Trim and Ornamentation, Removal and Installation).
  1. Disconnect the electrical connector and position the watershield aside.
    1. Remove the nuts.
      Torque: 80 lb.in (9 Nm)
    1. Release the assembly aid clip.
    1. Remove the exterior mirror assembly.

Exterior mirror glass

  WARNING: Place a shop towel between the hands and the exterior mirror glass for protection in case of glass breakage during mirror service. Failure to follow this instruction may result in serious personal injury.

NOTICE: Position the screwdriver using the service slot in the mirror glass backing plate to remove the mirror glass. Prying on the backing plate in other locations may damage the mirror glass.


  1. Remove the exterior mirror glass.
    1. Position the exterior mirror glass fully in and up.
    1. Using a flat blade screwdriver to release the tabs starting at the lower outboard side of mirror and continuing around the mirror until all the tabs are released.
      Use the General Equipment: Flat Headed Screw Driver
    1. NOTE: The number and location of the electrical connectors will vary based on mirror option content.

      Disconnect the exterior mirror glass electrical connectors.

Exterior mirror motor

  1. Remove the exterior mirror glass.

  1. Remove the exterior mirror motor.
    1. Remove the exterior mirror motor screw.
    1. Release the tabs and position the exterior mirror motor out.
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the exterior mirror motor.

Exterior mirror bezel

  1. Remove the exterior mirror glass.
  1. Remove the screws, release the tabs and remove the exterior mirror bezel.

Exterior mirror cover

  1. Remove the exterior mirror bezel.

  1. Remove the exterior mirror cover.
    1. Release the tabs and position the mirror cover aside.
    1. Disconnect the electrical connector and remove the exterior mirror cover.

Mirror mounted turn signal

  1. Remove the exterior mirror cover.
  1. Remove the screws and the exterior mirror mounted turn signal.

Lower mirror cover

  1. Remove the exterior mirror cover.
  1. Disconnect the electrical connectors, release the tabs and remove the lower mirror cover.

Exterior mirror side parking aid camera

  1. Remove the lower mirror cover.
  1. Remove the screws, the bracket and the exterior mirror side parking aid camera.

Puddle Lamp

  1. Remove the lower mirror cover.
  1. Release the tabs and remove the puddle lamp.

Installation

  1. To install, reverse the removal procedure.

Vehicles equipped with 360° cameras only.

  1. NOTE: Carry out the following step if installing a new front camera.

    Initialize the camera.
  1. NOTE: Carry out the following steps only if a mirror assembly was removed.

    Align the 360° camera.
